  Beware The Food You Eat!

In its clearest terms, Community Supported Farms (CSFs) are a concept describing a community-based organization of producers and consumers.

The consumers agree to provide direct, up-front support for the local growers who will produce their food.

The growers agree to do their best to provide a sufficient quantity and quality of food to meet the needs and expectations of the consumers.

Within this general arrangement there is room for much variation, depending on the resources and desires of the participants.

Since our existence is primarily dependent on farming, we cannot entrust this essential activity solely to the farming population- just 2% of Americans. As farming becomes more and more remote from the life of the average person, it becomes less and less able to provide us with clean, healthy, life-giving food or environment.

A small minority of farmers, laden with debt and overburdened with responsibility, cannot possibly meet the needs of all the people. More and more people are coming to recognize this, and they are willing to share agricultural responsibilities with the active farmers.
